Plastic Free Sharon is a group of Sharon residents that are concerned about the Global Plastic Pollution Crisis. Our goal is to reverse the prevalent use of single-use plastic locally, and to lead by finding and promoting plastic-free alternatives.

In Sharon alone, an estimated 700 tons of plastic was disposed curbside (recycling and trash) in 2018. This works out to 77 pounds per person per year. (Based on data from the Sharon Dept. of Public Works & MA Dept. of Environmental Protection). Sustainable Sharon Coalition is a group of individuals working to make Sharon a leading sustainable community, promoting and implementing measures that conserve our community’s use of natural & other resources. The Mass Green Network is an invaluable resource for individuals looking to pass single-use plastic reduction bylaws in their own communities. MassGreen members have helped us tremendously in our efforts, and were a source of some of the materials presented here.
